History

1977 Wally Kaechele takes part in the 1. International Congress of Dance Therapy in Toronto/Canada, where she meets Professor Julianna Lau, who is chairwoman of the congress and holder of the chair for Dance Therapy at the York Universirty Toronto.
1979 Wally Kaechele, Prof. Julianna Lau, Prof. Dr. med. Dietrich Langen, among others, found the Dance Therapy team
1980 Founding of the German Federal Association of Dance Therapy (Bundesverband für Tanztherapie Deutschland e.V. - BVT -)
1980 First part-time further training courses in Dance Alive (remedial educational dance) as well as Dance and Expressive Arts Therapy
1983 The Dietrich Langen School is founded in Monheim, as the first educational institution for Dance Therapy in Europe
The Dietrich Langen School is granted the status of a recognized school
Managing Director and Headteacher: Wally Kaechele.
1984 The School moves into Marienburg in Monheim, a castle which is more than 110 years old
Marianne Eberhard becomes headteacher.
1984 The Association of Dance and Expressive Arts Therapists Germany / Austria is founded (Berufsverbandes der Tanz- und AusdruckstherapeutInnen Deutschland / Österreich e.V. - BdTA -)
1988 The School is renamed Langen Institute and is changed into a non-profit making limited company.
2001 The Langen Institut is taken over by the Präha Group
