Certified Physiotherapist
with the opportunity of studying for a
Bachelor of Physiotherapy, NL
A vocational training course at the Institute of Physiotherapy
in Kerpen
in Düsseldorf in the course of formation

Teaching method: Problem-Based Learning
Actual vocational situations call for professional action. This is exactly considered by the teaching method of Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The central characteristic of this new teaching approach is the fact that real and complex presentations of a problem from the vocational routine form the starting point of learning. The entire learning matter of the physiotherapy course is studied by the students in a problem-oriented and thus realistic way beyond traditional teaching subjects, i. e. always across several subjects, in practice-oriented case studies.

3. Course content
 |
 |
Dutch concept in German: The curriculum meets the German as well as the Dutch requirements. In class the concept is the same as at the university of applied sciences in Zuyd (Netherlands), i.e. based on the concept of Problem-Based Learning.
In practice this means that students learn (in a group setting) to analyse a topic or a problem, do literature research and evaluate it in order to subsequently compare possible solutions and select and implement them.
Here teachers take on the role of tutors and advisors. Students are expected to show more initiative with regard to organising and designing their learning processes. Teachers teach the physiotherapeutic techniques immediately associated with the topics worked on in the groups.
|
Thus this kind of vocational training prepares students also for those situations in their professional life where they have to find solutions on their own or where team work is required (eg cross-professional team work, conferences, commissions, advisory work).
Physiotherapists treat patients in nearly all areas of modern medicine. They analyse and treat posture and movement disorders, disorders of internal organs such as respiratory or cardiovascular conditions, or motor development and motor control disorders.
The premises Our modern, light and friendly classrooms are tastefully furnished. The spacious media resource centre invites students to learn and study and work with PCs. The cafeteria does not only cater for the students physical needs but is also a place to find relaxation in between classes. When the weather is warm, there is a terrace to relax in the fresh air and to celebrate school parties.
